Foodies Market is seeking an experienced and dynamic Fruit & Veg 2IC (Second in Charge) to join our team in Alkimos, WA. This is a full-time position that offers an exciting opportunity to take on a leadership role within our fresh produce department. As the second in charge, you will support the department manager and play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation, high standards, and profitability of our fruit and vegetable section.

What you'll be doing

Oversee the daily operations of the fruit and vegetable department in the absence of the department manager

- Supervise, train, and mentor team members to maintain high standards of service, product quality, and presentation

- Monitor stock levels and coordinate with suppliers to ensure consistent availability of fresh produce

- Maintain product displays to maximise visual appeal and encourage customer purchases

- Conduct regular quality checks on all produce to ensure freshness and compliance with food safety standards

- Manage pricing, promotions, and markdown procedures in accordance with company policies

- Handle customer inquiries and complaints with professionalism and resolve issues promptly

- Assist with inventory control, stock rotation, and waste management

- Support the department manager in achieving sales targets and departmental objectives

- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work setting at all times





- Contribute to a positive team atmosphere and support colleagues across the store

What we're looking for

- Proven experience in a supervisory or second-in-charge role within a retail environment, preferably in fresh produce or grocery retail

- Solid knowledge of fruit and vegetable products, including quality assessment, storage requirements, and seasonal availability

- Excellent leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members

- Demonstrated ability to maintain high standards of product presentation and merchandising

- Sound understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations

- Strong numerical and inventory management skills

- Excellent communication and customer service abilities

- Ability to work flexibly, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekend shifts as required

- Physical capability to lift and carry produce regularly and work in a fast-paced retail environment

- Reliability, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
