Gate Automation & Assembly Technician

Regala | Toowoomba QLD | Full-Time

Enjoy working with your hands, electronics and technology? This could be the job for you!

We're looking for a practical, technically minded person to join our team at Regala, assembling and setting up automated gates in our Toowoomba workshop. If you enjoy tinkering with electronics, wiring up 12V systems, working with mechanical components and figuring out how things work, we'd love to hear from you.

You don't need to be a qualified electrician or have experience with gates. We're more interested in someone with good practical skills, some hands-on electronics experience and a genuine interest in technology.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll be responsible for assembling, wiring and testing our automated gate systems before they're dispatched to customers across Australia.

Your work will include

- Mechanically assembling sliding cantilever gates, including fitting motors, rollers, racks and other components.
- Installing and wiring low-voltage gate motors, solar panels, batteries and charging systems.
- Setting up access control equipment, including keypads, remotes, GSM controllers, safety sensors and other automation accessories.
- Programming and testing gate motors and control systems.
- Troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues to ensure everything operates correctly.
- Completing final assembly and quality control checklists before supervisor inspection.
- Occasionally assisting with customer troubleshooting or technical support.
- Getting involved in testing new products, exploring new technologies and suggesting improvements to our systems.

All gate assembly is carried out in our factory, not on construction sites. Occasional site visits may be required for technical troubleshooting.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

- Has good mechanical aptitude and enjoys hands-on work.
- Has some experience or practical knowledge of basic electronics, 12V wiring or similar systems.
- Is confident using hand tools and power tools.
- Enjoys problem-solving and understanding how things work.
- Can follow instructions, work independently and take pride in quality workmanship.
- Has good attention to detail, particularly when assembling and wiring equipment.
- Is reliable, organised and works well as part of a team.
- Has an interest in learning about new technologies and improving the way things are done.

Experience That Would Be an Advantage

Experience in any of the following would be beneficial, but isn't essential:
- Automotive electrical work or 12V accessories
- Gate motors, automation or access control systems
- Solar and battery-powered equipment
- Mechanical assembly or machinery maintenance
- Electronics, control systems or fault-finding
- Welding or metal fabrication

A driver's licence would also be an advantage.

Formal electrical qualifications are not required. This position involves low-voltage wiring and assembly, with no licensed electrical work required.

Why Join Regala?

- Variety in your work – Our gates come in different sizes, designs and configurations, so every job isn't the same.
- Work with interesting technology – From automated motors and solar power to remote access control systems.
- Factory-based position – Work primarily from our Toowoomba workshop, rather than travelling between installation sites.
- Chance to contribute ideas – We welcome people who are interested in exploring better products and smarter ways of doing things.
- Supportive team environment – Work alongside our fabrication and production team.
- Full-time, stable employment – With competitive pay negotiable based on experience and ability.
