You know how to get a NAV right. Now you want to understand more of the investment business behind it.

This Melbourne-based investment manager offers the chance to build on your fund accounting or operations experience, with a remit spanning trade settlement, portfolio reporting, cash management and process improvement.

The vacancy follows an internal move. You’ll report to the Operations Manager and work with colleagues across investment management, dealing, compliance and distribution, alongside external administrators, custodians and brokers.

The work

Daily fund operations are central to the role. This is a busy, deadline-driven environment where accuracy matters and discrepancies need to be investigated properly.

Upon successful hire you’ll:

- Review daily NAVs and unit prices, investigate valuation movements and resolve reconciliation breaks
- Support trade matching and settlement, cash and FX movements, capital flows and corporate actions
- Maintain portfolio data and contribute to investor and regulatory reporting
- Improve workflows and controls, contribute to system changes and deliver an annual project agreed with your manager

You’ll gain a broader understanding of how a fund operates, from the trade through to the numbers investors receive.



You’ll also have opportunities to question existing processes and help make them better.

Your experience

- You’re likely to have 2+ years’ experience in fund administration, custody or investment operations, with hands-on exposure to unit pricing, expense accruals, distributions, GST and performance fees.
- You understand the trade lifecycle and how it affects a fund’s NAV.
- Your Excel skills are strong, and you can explain a discrepancy as well as identify it.
- You’ll have a degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
- Experience improving a process will be valuable. Power Query, macros, basic SQL or exposure to SMAs, OTC collateral or ETF operations would also be practical, but you don’t need every one of these to apply.
