Who we're looking for?

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experiencedLegal Counsel to join one of WA's leading energy and infrastructure organisations on a 9 to 12 month assignment.

This is a unique, high-profile role operating at the intersection of the Legal and Procurement teams. Reporting to the Managing Counsel, you'll partner closely with procurement, commercial and project stakeholders to support the delivery of major infrastructure projects. Your work will focus on construction and project contracting matters associated with the expansion of transmission networks and the delivery of critical substation infrastructure that will support growing housing and community development across Western Australia.

What you'll be doing:





- supporting the Procurement team on major transmission expansion and infrastructure projects;
- drafting, reviewing and negotiating construction and project documentation including departures from standard contract suites;
- advising on D&C;, lump sum and other construction-related contracts;
- providing commercially focused advice on contract administration matters, variations, contractual rights and obligations;
- assisting with the resolution of low level contractual disputes; and
- working closely with procurement, commercial and project teams to support successful project delivery outcomes.

To be suitable, you’ll have:

- a minimum of 8+ years' PQE gained in private practice and/or in-house environments;
- strong experience advising on construction, infrastructure and commercial contracts;
- demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating D&C;, lump sum and other major project contracts;
- experience providing practical, commercial advice on contractual rights, obligations, variations and contract administration matters; and
- a proactive, hands-on approach and the confidence to quickly become a trusted advisor to stakeholders.
