Chief Financial Officer & Company Secretary

Football Tasmania is the governing body for football in Tasmania, responsible for supporting, developing and growing the game across the state.

We work closely with clubs, associations, participants and stakeholders to deliver football competitions, player development pathways and community programs, while promoting strong governance and sustainable growth across the sport.

About the Role

Football Tasmania is seeking an experienced and highly organised Chief Financial Officer & Company Secretary to join our team in Hobart.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this role is responsible for overseeing the organisation's financial operations, reporting, budgeting, payroll and statutory compliance, while also providing company secretarial and governance support to the Board and its Committees.

This is a hands-on position suited to a finance professional who enjoys working across a broad range of responsibilities and contributing to the effective operation of a sporting organisation.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial and management reports.
- Coordinate annual financial statements, external audits and statutory reporting requirements.
- Support the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets, forecasts and cash flow.
- Maintain effective financial systems, internal controls and procedures.
- Provide financial advice and support to the CEO and departmental managers.

Payroll & Compliance

- Manage payroll processing, employee entitlements and associated reporting.
- Ensure compliance with taxation, superannuation and other statutory obligations.
- Maintain accurate payroll and financial records.
- Support the CEO with employment administration and HR-related matters.

Company Secretarial & Governance

- Coordinate Board and Committee meetings, including meeting schedules,



agendas and logistics.
- Prepare and distribute Board and Committee papers and meeting packs.
- Attend meetings, prepare accurate minutes and maintain decision and action registers.
- Coordinate Annual General Meetings and other general meetings, including notices, member communications, elections and meeting documentation.
- Maintain statutory registers, corporate records and governance documentation.
- Support the Board and CEO with governance processes, constitutional requirements and compliance obligations.

About You

- A strong background in financial management and accounting, preferably within a medium-size organisation.
- CA/CPA qualification or progress towards completion.
- Experience preparing financial reports, budgets, forecasts and statutory accounts.
- Demonstrated experience managing payroll and associated compliance requirements.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in accounting software, preferably Xero.
- Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.
- A high level of professionalism, integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
- Experience in company secretarial duties, Board administration or corporate governance will be highly regarded.
