Maw Civil Marine
Melbourne
Maw Civil Marine specialises in marine, coastal and major civil works, including seawalls and revetments, shoreline erosion repair, bulk earthworks, dam construction and upgrades, and wetland construction. We combine specialist plant operation with skilled manual labour to deliver major and minor projects for councils, coastal authorities and private industry.
We’re a niche, hands-on team, so decisions get made quickly and your work is visible in the finished job.
About The Role
Reporting to the Directors, you’ll oversee projects from tender through to delivery and client handover. Works include wharf and jetty construction, coastal protection, marine infrastructure, piling, dredging and associated civil works.
You’ll be based at our Dromana office and on project sites across the Peninsula and the Victorian coast; rarely in the CBD. This is a hands-on role: you’ll be on site regularly, outdoors in all conditions, working directly with the crews.
What You'll Be Doing:
Develop project scopes, programs and budgets, then track progress, costs and performance to deliver on time and within budget
Manage contracts, including variations, progress claims, RFIs and client reporting
Prepare project methodologies, SWMS, risk assessments and environmental management requirements
Lead site safety compliance, and report and investigate incidents, hazards and non-conformances
Coordinate marine operations, including vessel movements, marine plant and marine safety
Lead site teams: allocate daily duties, and induct, train and mentor supervisors, leading hands, apprentices and crews
Manage plant, equipment, materials and subcontractors, including procurement,
supplier evaluation and negotiating subcontract agreements
Review drawings, specifications, estimates, surveys and design documentation before works start
Manage relationships with clients, engineers, regulatory authorities and other stakeholders, and chair and document project meetings, site inspections and audits
Prepare tender programs and support the Directors, Engineer, BD Manager and WHSEQ Manager with tendering and business development, keeping records organised on SharePoint/OneDrive
What You'll Bring
3+ years in a project management, site management or senior supervisory role in civil, marine or infrastructure construction
Experience delivering projects from tender award through to completion and handover
A diploma or degree in civil engineering, construction management, project management or a related field is preferred
Robust contract administration skills (AS 4000 / AS 2124 or similar), with sound knowledge of scheduling, budgeting and cost control
Sound knowledge of WHS legislation, environmental requirements and relevant Australian Standards
A confident communicator and negotiator who can lead crews and manage clients, subcontractors and suppliers
Confident with Microsoft Office, SharePoint and project management software
Current driver’s licence and Construction Induction (White) Card, and able to pass drug and alcohol testing
What You Can Expect:
$130,000 – $150,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus superannuation and a vehicle
Interesting, varied projects in some of Victoria’s best coastal locations
Direct access to the Directors and a real say in how projects are run
