Our client is an industry leading agribusiness with sophisticated Orchard operations located in Darlington Point and surrounds. They are currently looking to fill 100 Orchard Assistant positions across their farming sites, with work commencing from October 2026 onwards.

You are required to work in orchard environment where you will spend most of your days outdoors. You will need to be comfortable with getting your hands dirty as well as working in all different climates. This includes hot, cold, rainy and sunny weather. You will be a team player who is physically fit and more than able to handle heavy lifting.

You will be paid under Agri Labour Australia Horticulture Agreement 2016 – Level 3, at an hourly rate of $36.52 per hour, with at least 120 hours of work over a 4-week period. This will be aligned with the Fair Work Commission's annual reviews, including any increases to the National Minimum Wage and minimum award rates of pay. You will be offered between 6-9 months of work with potential to upskill.

Key duties include

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

- Machinery Operation & Maintenance
- Set up, load and safely operate farm machinery and equipment
- Complete pre-start checks and identify basic equipment faults
- Carry out basic non-trade maintenance using appropriate tools and equipment
- Assist with basic engineering and fault finding
- Make operational adjustments to machinery and equipment as required
- Remove and replace equipment fastenings and components using appropriate tools
- Report mechanical faults, damage or maintenance requirements promptly Irrigation & General Farm Duties




- Assist with day-to-day irrigation activities across the orchard
- Monitor irrigation systems and identify leaks, blockages or other issues
- Complete general farm hand and orchard maintenance duties as required
- Maintain clean and safe work areas Orchard Hygiene & Maintenance
- Assist with correct land and orchard preparation
- Undertake weed removal and chemical spraying
- Remove unwanted branches while minimising damage to trees and buds
- Maintain orchard hygiene standards to support healthy tree growth Pruning & Tree Management
- Correctly prune almond trees to support future yield
- Improve access to sunlight and chemical sprays through appropriate pruning
- Remove damaged or unwanted branches while minimising damage to the tree
- Follow orchard pruning requirements and instructions Orchard Spraying
- Prepare and mix chemicals at the correct dosage in accordance with instructions and safety requirements
- Operate tractors and spraying equipment at the correct speed and spray pattern
- Assess tree coverage and identify areas of poor coverage
- Troubleshoot basic spraying and coverage issues
- Follow all chemical handling, PPE and safety requirements Pest & Disease Monitoring
- Identify and report distressed or unhealthy trees
- Recognise and report common signs of pests and disease




- Assist with pest and disease control activities as directed Harvest Operations
- Operate or assist with almond harvesting machinery
- Follow correct shaking procedures to minimise damage to trees
- Ensure tree bark is not damaged during shaking
- Complete other harvest and orchard duties as required during peak periods

Characteristics and Aptitudes

- Comfortable working in an outdoor environment
- Good communication skills and able to follow instructions

- Live locally or be happy to relocate to Darlington Point
- Physically fit and comfortable in carrying out labour intensive duties

- Able to follow directions and work unsupervised whilst showing high levels of initiative
