Payroll and Finance Officer

Location: Casuarina Steiner School, Coffs Harbour

Work pattern: 3 days per week

Engagement options: Permanent part-time employment or independent contractor arrangement (subject to suitability)

Casuarina Steiner School is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll and Finance Officer to join our warm, collaborative operations team. You will work closely with the Management Accountant and report to the Business Manager, supporting the financial administration of our growing school.

This is a great opportunity for someone with strong finance and payroll experience who values working in a values-based, child-centred educational environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Maintain accurate employee data across payroll and HR systems

- Process fortnightly payroll, including timesheets, deductions, reimbursements, and superannuation

- Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, fee reversals, bursaries, statements, reconciliations and parent enquiries

- Manage accounts payable, including data entry, payment processing, purchasing and supplier reconciliations





- Support finance functions including BAS, PAYG, and compliance reporting

- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts

- Prepare and issue letters and communications to employees and parents

- General administrative duties (front-of-house) to support school operations

About You

We're looking for someone with:

Essential

- Appropriate qualification or equivalent experience in finance/payroll

- Robust knowledge of MYOB or Xero (or similar software)

- Fast and accurate data entry skills with excellent attention to detail

- Proficiency in accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll

- Ability to prioritise workflow and meet deadlines

- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

- High level of discretion, maturity, and confidentiality

- Familiarity with interpreting employment awards

- Confident and approachable manner with outstanding customer service

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)

- Initiative, reliability, and a proactive attitude

Desirable

- Experience in a school or education environment, including Sentral and Xero, would be an advantage.
