Are you a commercial lawyer with strong experience across ICT, technology procurement and complex commercial contracts?
An opportunity is available in Brisbane for an experienced lawyer to join a highly regarded in-house legal function, providing practical and commercially focused advice across a broad range of corporate and technology matters.
This role will have a particular focus on ICT and technology contracting, making it an excellent opportunity for a lawyer with experience across technology agreements, SaaS, software, procurement and major supplier arrangements who is looking to broaden their exposure within a complex and highly regulated organisation.
The Role
Working closely with senior stakeholders across the organisation, you will provide strategic and practical legal advice across matters including:
- ICT and technology contracts, including software, SaaS and technology services agreements
- Complex commercial contracts and supplier arrangements
- Technology procurement, tendering and associated contractual matters
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating agreements with external suppliers and service providers
- Privacy, data and technology-related legal issues
- Procurement, probity and commercial risk
- Contractual risk, governance and compliance
- Interpretation and negotiation of complex contractual terms
- Managing contractual issues and disputes as they arise
- Providing commercially focused advice to senior and operational stakeholders
The broader role will also provide exposure to a diverse range of corporate and commercial legal matters,
making this a varied position for someone who enjoys working closely with the business rather than operating within a narrow legal specialisation.
About You
We are particularly interested in hearing from lawyers who bring:
- Current Australian practising credentials
- Strong commercial contracting experience
- Demonstrated experience advising on ICT, technology and/or software contracts
- Exposure to SaaS agreements, technology procurement, software licensing, managed services or major ICT supplier arrangements
- Strong drafting, contract review and negotiation capability
- Experience advising on procurement and commercial risk
- The ability to understand complex business and technical requirements and translate them into practical legal advice
- Robust stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
- Sound commercial judgement and a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach
- The confidence to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
Experience gained in-house, within government or regulatory environments, or in a commercial/technology practice within private practice will all be considered.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
This is an opportunity to move into a senior in-house legal position where you can use your technology and commercial contracting expertise while continuing to broaden your legal experience.
You will work closely with stakeholders across the organisation, advise on significant commercial and technology arrangements and have the opportunity to influence outcomes rather than simply provide legal advice from the sidelines.
