Network Security Project / Design Engineer (Contract)

About the Role

Ontrack Systems Aus Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Network Security Project / Design Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. Based in North Ryde, NSW, this role offers an exciting opportunity to design, implement, and manage complex network security infrastructure projects.

You will play a key role in developing scalable, secure solutions that protect critical organisational assets and data. This position requires a professional who can translate strategic security objectives into practical, high‑quality technical designs and implementations.

Key Deliverables

- High‑Level and Low‑Level Solution Designs (HLD & LLD)

- Creation of detailed Low‑Level Design documents

- Preparation of comprehensive implementation plans

- Firewall communication matrices

- Firewall, proxy, and VPN gateway configurations

- Firewall policy optimisation and compliance

- Updating technical documentation and network diagrams

- Firewall RITM implementation records

- Firewall migration activities

- Consolidation and standardisation initiatives

What We’re Looking For

- Strong background in planning, design, and migration of network security solutions

- Hands‑on expertise with firewalls, particularly Fortinet and Check Point

- Proven experience producing LLDs and technical design documentation

- Experience with FortiManager and Check Point Smart‑1

- VPN deployment and troubleshooting experience

- Solid understanding of dynamic routing protocols

- Router/switch knowledge (Cisco preferred – nice to have)

- Proxy and VPN gateway design and implementation experience

- Confluence documentation skills

- Strong change management capability





- Experience working on large‑scale infrastructure or transformation projects

- Basic systems experience with Linux variants

Years of Experience

- 5–10 years in network security engineering

- Fortinet and Check Point certifications highly preferred
