SWI Fencing

Rhodes

Put your safety expertise where it makes a difference.

Safety is not a document sitting in a folder. It is how work is planned, how risks are controlled and how people make decisions on site.

At SWI Fencing, we deliver high-security fencing solutions across construction, infrastructure, government and critical infrastructure projects throughout Australia. We’re looking for a hands-on HSE Advisor who can work with our project teams to turn safety requirements into practical outcomes.

This is a genuine chance for an experienced safety professional who enjoys solving problems, investigating incidents, improving systems and influencing the way work is carried out.

Working three days per week, you’ll support managers across our operations, manage our SiteMate safety system and help strengthen our HSE management framework.

We need someone who can work independently, prioritise what matters and make a real contribution within a part-time schedule.

What you'll be doing

Make safety practical

- Provide hands-on HSE advice to project managers, site managers and operational teams.

- Review Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), risk assessments and work practices.

- Identify gaps between documented controls and what is happening on site.

- Help teams identify hazards and implement effective controls.

Investigate, learn and improve

- Lead or coordinate incident and near-miss investigations.

- Identify root causes and develop meaningful corrective and preventative actions.

- Track actions through to completion and share lessons learned across projects.

- Escalate serious incidents and significant risks appropriately.

Own the SiteMate system

- Administer SiteMate and support its consistent use across projects.

- Monitor incidents, inspections, observations and corrective actions.

- Use system data to identify trends, gaps and opportunities for improvement.

- Prepare HSE reports and dashboards for management.

Strengthen systems and compliance

- Support the implementation and ongoing management of the HSE management system.

- Coordinate ISO-related procedures, documentation and controls.

- Assist with internal and external audits and close out findings.

- Support site assurance, inspections and compliance reviews.

Build capability

- Coordinate HSE training, toolbox talks and safety communications.

- Help managers improve hazard and near-miss reporting.

- Monitor monthly TRIFR, LTIFR and leading indicators across the business.

- Recommend practical improvements based on incident trends and HSE performance.

What you'll bring

You’re a credible safety professional who can engage with operational teams, ask the right questions and influence outcomes without making safety unnecessarily complicated.

You will have:

- A relevant WHS, OHS or safety qualification.

- Approximately 3–5 years of practical HSE experience.

- Experience in construction, infrastructure, engineering or a similar operational environment.

- Demonstrated experience investigating incidents and identifying root causes.

- Strong risk assessment skills and experience developing practical controls.

- Experience preparing or reviewing SWMS.

- Experience managing corrective actions and conducting assurance activities.

- Exposure to ISO-aligned HSE management systems and audits.

- Experience with SiteMate or similar safety software.

- Strong written communication, reporting and organisational skills.

- A current Australian driver licence and the ability to travel to project locations when required.

You must be comfortable working autonomously, managing competing priorities and focusing on the highest-risk issues within three days per week. A police check and any applicable project access clearances will also be required.

Why this opportunity stands out

- Three days per week: Apply your expertise in a defined part-time role without committing to a five-day schedule.

- Broad operational exposure: Support projects and teams across a national business.

- Ownership of safety systems: Take responsibility for SiteMate and help improve the quality of HSE data and reporting.

- Influence beyond compliance: Work directly with leaders to improve risk management, incident prevention and safety practices.

- Visible impact: Help close the gap between written procedures and how work is actually performed.

Important working arrangements

This is a part-time, office-based position requiring attendance at our Rhodes office three days per week. You need to be willing to travel to project sites - metropolitans, regional & interstate, as required. Company-provided parking is not available, so you will need to make your own parking or public transport arrangements.

The role supports SWI’s Australian operations, and travel to project locations will be required as reasonably necessary.

Ready to make a difference?

If you’re a practical HSE professional who values meaningful work, strong systems and genuine engagement with operational teams, we’d like to hear from you.

Apply with your resume and an overview of your experience in incident investigations, risk management and HSE systems.
