Legal Aid Queensland is seeking an experienced Senior Family Lawyer to deliver high-quality legal services to vulnerable and disadvantaged Queenslanders.

In this role, you will represent legally aided clients in family law, domestic and family violence, child protection and related matters. You will prepare matters, instruct counsel and appear as an advocate, while also providing duty lawyer services, legal information, advice and referrals.

You will support the Principal Lawyer to coach and develop staff, contribute to continuing career development and community legal education, and assist with policy, law reform, service improvement and stakeholder engagement activities.

This is a challenging and rewarding prospect to contribute to Legal Aid Queensland's significant role in the justice system and help improve access to justice for Queenslanders.

Key Responsibilities
Represent clients in family law, domestic and family violence, child protection and related matters.
Prepare matters, instruct counsel and appear as an advocate.
Provide duty lawyer services, legal information,



advice and referrals.
Support staff development, training and mentoring.
Contribute to policy, procedure, law reform and service delivery initiatives.
Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
Contribute to operational planning and continuous improvement.

About You
You have knowledge and experience in preparing, representing and advocating in a diverse range of matters including complex family law, domestic and family violence, child protection and related matters.
You have knowledge of and comply with the practice and procedure of the relevant areas of law and ethical standards.
You communicate in a clear, concise and articulate manner, offer convincing rationale, negotiate persuasively and have the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders including clients with complex needs using the principles of trauma informed practice.
