About the role

We're looking for a reliable, detail-focused Accounts Officer to join our accounts team. The role covers both accounts receivable and accounts payable, with a monthly and quarterly reporting component. You'll work closely with our Senior Accountant, who will support you and share the workload. The balance between AR and AP will vary, so you'll need to be comfortable moving between the two.

Key responsibilities
Processing incoming mail and orders, and managing the shared inbox
Allocating customer payments daily and receiving cash and card payments
Sending weekly customer statements
Following up customers who have skipped or are behind on invoices, and keeping the follow-up spreadsheet current
Answering customer queries by phone and email
Setting up new customer accounts and ordering fuel dockets
Reading and sorting supplier emails, and forwarding invoices to purchasing
Entering and filing supplier invoices
Running and filing the daily payment run
Reconciling creditor statements

About you
Previous experience in accounts payable and/or receivable




Robust data entry skills and high accuracy with numbers
Confidence chasing overdue payments professionally and firmly
Good organisation and time management, and the ability to hold your focus through regular phone and email interruptions
Explicit written and verbal communication
Proficiency in Excel and accounting software (we're happy to train on our system)
Experience in food distribution, wholesale, hospitality or another fast-paced industry (desirable)
Experience with high-volume invoicing or large customer ledgers (desirable)
Familiarity with customer reporting requirements for corporate clients (desirable)
