Employment: Full time, permanent, 38 hours per week

Salary: $80,000 to $85,000 per year, plus superannuation

Beess & Co is a long-established corner cafe at the Yarralumla shops, about ten minutes from the Canberra city centre, and is operated by Current Dream 77 Pty Ltd. Guests can sit inside or at the outdoor tables. The kitchen runs an all-day breakfast menu and a lunch menu, with daily specials and fresh baked goods alongside.

Gluten free and vegan dishes are a regular part of the menu, so dietary and allergen orders come through every service. Everything is cooked to order, which is why we need a Cook who can keep standards steady when the cafe is full.

What you will do: Key Responsibilities
Check deliveries and prepped items for freshness and quality before they go into service
Prepare, season and cook breakfast and lunch dishes to our recipes and portion sizes
Set and monitor temperatures on grills, ovens and other cooking equipment
Plate meals with the correct sauces, garnishes and sides so each dish leaves the pass looking the same
Cook for allergen and dietary requests, following our kitchen procedures




Store food at protected temperatures, label and rotate stock on a first in, first out basis, and keep waste low
Fill in daily food safety records, including fridge temperatures and cleaning logs
Clean and sanitise benches, utensils and equipment during and after service
Work with the other cooks and front of house during rushes, and help train junior kitchen staff when needed

Skills and experience required
At least three years of full time experience as a Cook in a commercial dine-in kitchen
Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery is welcome. Three years of relevant experience is accepted in place of the qualification.
Good working knowledge of cooking methods, food safety, temperature control and allergen handling
Able to keep quality consistent when the docket rail is full
Communicates clearly in a team
Available for early starts, weekends and public holidays
Physically able to stand for long periods and to use hot and heavy kitchen equipment safely
