QIX Consulting is partnering with an established financial services firm seeking an experienced
Senior SMSF Accountant
to join its specialist SMSF team.
This is a hands‐on senior accounting role suited to someone with strong technical SMSF capability who can
take ownership of their portfolio and manage the compliance process end‐to‐end
.
The Role
Working across an established portfolio of SMSF clients, you'll be responsible for the preparation and management of SMSF accounts and compliance obligations from start to finish.
Key responsibilities will include:
Preparation of SMSF financial statements, tax returns and Business Activity Statements
Managing
end‐to‐end SMSF compliance
Monitoring and managing
contribution caps and pension obligations
Pension establishment
and ongoing pension compliance
Transfer Balance Account Reporting (TBAR)
and Transfer Balance Cap requirements
Preparation of
trustee minutes and investment strategies
Working with
Limited Recourse Borrowing Arrangements (LRBAs)
and more complex SMSF structures
Coordinating with
financial advisers, auditors and the ATO
to resolve technical and compliance matters
Managing workflow across a portfolio of SMSF clients, ensuring
deadlines and compliance obligations are met
Maintaining accurate, high‐quality files and documentation
About You
We're looking for someone who is technically strong and genuinely accustomed to
owning SMSF work rather than completing only one component of the process
.
Ideally, you'll bring:
CA/CPA qualification,



membership or progression towards professional qualification
Approximately
5-7 years' experience in SMSF accounting
, ideally within public practice
Demonstrated hands‐on experience preparing
SMSF accounts, financial statements, tax returns and BAS
Robust working knowledge of
pensions, contribution caps, TBAR and SMSF compliance
Experience with
LRBAs and pension establishments
Strong experience with
Class, BGL or comparable SMSF accounting software
Confidence liaising with
advisers, auditors and the ATO
The ability to independently manage workflow and deadlines across a portfolio
Beyond your technical capability, you'll be someone who brings
clear communication, excellent attention to detail, genuine ownership of your work and a collaborative team approach
.
