Our client is a growing structural engineering consultancy seeking an experienced Structural Project Drafter to join their team in Sydney.
This is an opportunity for a technically strong drafter who is looking to take on greater responsibility across project coordination, client management and delivery.
The Structural Project Drafter will be responsible for managing structural engineering documentation from project commencement through to completion, while acting as the key link between clients, engineers, architects, contractors and drafting resources.
You will be responsible for producing high-quality structural drawings and BIM models, coordinating engineering input, managing project programmes and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to a high standard of quality.
The role will suit an experienced Structural Drafter with strong Revit and AutoCAD capabilities who has excellent communication and organisational skills and is comfortable attending project meetings, coordinating multiple stakeholders and taking ownership of project delivery.




The Structural Project Drafter is authorised to manage day-to-day project communications, coordinate engineering and drafting resource, schedule project meetings and workshops, issue drafting documentation in accordance with company procedures, elevate commercial, technical, or programme risks to management.
Projects are across mainly Industrial and some Commercial projects and experience in structural steel detailing is essential.
There will be some large concrete projects too.
It is client facing work with client Meetings and client communications and the Drafter manages the engineer with the engineer working across multiple projects.
There is also training and mentoring provided.Years of experience: 5 years +ResponsibilitiesManage assigned projects from commencement through to completionPrepare and maintain project programmes and monitor progress against deadlinesAct as the primary day-to-day contact for clients on assigned projectsAttend client meetings, design coordination meetings and project workshopsCoordinate with architects, builders, contractors, certifiers and consultantsCoordinate engineering resources and design input across projectsFollow up outstanding engineering actions and design decisionsProduce and manage detailed structural documentation using Revit and AutoCADPrepare structural models, drawings,



schedules and construction documentationConvert engineer mark-ups and concept sketches into buildable documentationReview drawings for accuracy, completeness and coordination with other disciplinesMonitor project budgets, drafting hours and delivery performanceIdentify project risks, delays, scope changes and resource requirementsEnsure documentation is issued in accordance with company QA proceduresUndertake internal reviews prior to document issueAssist in developing drafting systems, templates and standardsSupport continuous improvement of drafting workflows and project delivery processesQualifications and RequirementsMinimum 5 years' experience in a similar structural drafting roleAdvanced Revit and AutoCAD capabilityStrong understanding of structural engineering documentation and construction processesExperience managing multiple projects simultaneouslyExcellent project management and organisational skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsExperience attending and/or leading project meetingsStrong stakeholder management and client relationship skillsCommercial awareness and understanding of project budgets and deliveryAbility to coordinate engineering and drafting resources effectivelyHigh level of attention to detail and commitment to qualityAbility to work both autonomously and as part of a teamStrong understanding of BIM standards and documentation requirementsThis is a permanent full-time position providing a great chance to work with a successful and growing organisation who offer challenging work and the potential for career progression.
