(One or two sentences on the business, its projects and what it is like to work there.)About the roleWe are looking for an experienced Senior Project Engineer to lead the delivery of civil construction projects from award through to practical completion, handover and defect close-out.
This is the senior engineering role in our project delivery team, carrying technical and commercial responsibility for your projects, including program, monthly cost reporting, quality and compliance.Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will run projects without close supervision, make technical and commercial decisions within delegated authority, and provide day-to-day direction to Site and Project Engineers.
You will work alongside our Senior Civil Supervisor, who runs the works on the ground while you run the documentation and the contract.What you will be doingLeading project establishment, including site establishment, programming, resourcing and procurement planningDeveloping and maintaining construction programs, chairing pre-starts and project meetings, and setting sequencing and prioritiesInterrogating drawings and specifications to identify design issues before they reach site, and managing RFIs and site instructions through to resolutionAdministering the head contract and subcontracts, including letters of award, back-charges and close-outPreparing monthly progress claims and managing them through to certification and paymentIdentifying, pricing and submitting variations on a first-principles basis,



and managing notices within contractual time barsMaintaining cost-to-complete positions and reporting forecast final cost to senior management each monthProcuring subcontractors and suppliers, and contributing to estimating and tenderingMaintaining ITPs and QA records progressively, managing on- and off-maintenance inspections, and working within our certified ISO management systemsLeading secure work practices, with the authority to stop work where a risk is not controlledMentoring and developing Site and Project Engineers and graduatesWhat you will bringA Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or similarAt least 10 years' post-qualification experience delivering civil construction or infrastructure projects in AustraliaDemonstrated experience in urban subdivisions, bulk earthworks, road pavements, structures, drainage and utilities, including sewer and waterExperience managing projects of at least $5 million in contract value, including responsibility for the commercial outcomeSubstantive contract administration experience, including progress claims, first-principles variations, subcontractor procurement and cost-to-complete reportingWorking knowledge of SEQ local council and water authority specifications, approvals and handover processesSound commercial judgement, composure under program pressure, and the ability to work autonomouslyClear written and verbal communication, including contractual correspondenceThe ability to supervise and develop less experienced engineersA construction white card and a current Class C driver's licence (minimum)It would be great if you also haveRPEQ registration or chartered status, and Engineers Australia membershipTMR or other major project experienceEstimating and tendering experienceExposure to ISO ****, ISO ***** and ISO ***** management systemsCompetence in AutoCAD, civil scheduling software, and planning software such as MS Project, Asta Powerproject or P6
