Garden Maintenance Worker – Roadside Mowing Specialist
Cross Creations Group is looking for a reliable, safety-focused Garden Maintenance Worker to join our roadside mowing team serving Wyndham and surrounds.
You will maintain rural and urban road reserves, verges, reserves and fire-risk strips for council and government contracts, helping keep roads safe, tidy and compliant with fire prevention standards.
Key responsibilities
Operate tractors, slashers, ride‐on mowers and other roadside mowing equipment safely and efficiently
Mow road verges, drainage reserves, nature strips and fire‐cut areas to contract specifications and agreed cutting heights
Follow the scheduled mowing program, completing assigned roads and areas within the planned timeframes
Complete daily pre‐start equipment checks, basic maintenance (greasing, blade checks, refuelling) and report faults or breakdowns promptly
Set up and remove traffic management, signage and safety controls where required when working near live traffic
Identify and report hazards such as debris, rocks, sharp objects, washouts, damaged assets, illegal dumping, and unsafe conditions
Complete daily worksheets or job records, including areas mowed and any issues encountered
Carry out supporting garden maintenance tasks as needed, such as whipper‐snipping, edging, brush‐cutting,



litter removal and general site tidy‐up
Maintain a professional and courteous manner with the public, council staff and contractors
About you
Current driver's licence (manual or heavy vehicle licence is an advantage)
Experience operating tractors, slashers or commercial mowing equipment
Ability to work safely outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat on fire‐danger days
Strong awareness of work health and safety, particularly working near roads and traffic
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a small team
Ability to work long hours outdoors on machinery and on foot
Comfortable on uneven terrain and slopes
Capable of manual handling tasks such as lifting equipment and fuel containers
Desirable: Traffic management or working‐near‐traffic training
Desirable: White Card (construction induction) or equivalent
