ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for a Senior Automation Test Engineer to join an autonomy team in Perth.
Your main focus will be designing and building scalable test automation frameworks and automated tests from scratch.
You will lead the verification of autonomous mining solutions, making sure complex distributed systems (web platforms and field-based hardware) meet strict technical specifications.
Working closely with product owners, software developers and systems engineers, you will connect virtual simulation, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) environments and real-world deployment.
The systems you'll be verifying include Fleet Management Systems (FMS), autonomous vehicle tracking, and precision haulage and mission control systems.
Location: Perth, Western Australia (on-site) Work schedule: Full-time, 5/2 roster Work rights: Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents only WHAT YOU'LL DO Framework Development Test Automation Architect, build and maintain scalable test automation frameworks from scratch with minimal supervision Create automated tests for web applications and the underlying REST APIs and microservices Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI, Docker and related DevOps tools System Verification Hardware-in-the-Loop Plan, design and execute integration, system, regression and performance tests Build physical and virtual test jigs for HIL testing, connecting software test cycles directly with autonomous mining hardware Validate distributed microservices running in Docker environments Defect Diagnosis, Metrics Reporting Diagnose, document and track complex defects in real-time processing and distributed messaging systems Track key quality metrics such as system uptime,



network reliability, fault tolerance and data synchronisation Write test cases, log defects in Jira and prepare verification summaries for the Verification Coordinator WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Must-Have 10+ years of experience in technology verification and validation, including 8+ years as an Automation Test Analyst or Engineer A proven record of building automation frameworks from scratch with minimal guidance Solid experience across the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), plus performance, reliability, scalability and load testing tools Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident Able to work full time on-site in Perth on a 5/2 roster Technical Depth Expert-level Python scripting and a strong understanding of C/C++ Advanced hands-on experience with Robot Framework (Python-based, for microservices and web apps) and Selenium Working knowledge of Docker, microservice validation and Linux environments Familiarity with ROS/ROS2, CAN Bus and DDS middleware Git/GitLab, Jira and Confluence Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Robotics or a related technical field NICE TO HAVE Experience with Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS) Background in safety-critical engineering within mining or resources Experience testing robotics or autonomous vehicle platforms in the field WHAT SETS YOU APART You can explain complex testing approaches and data flows clearly to cross-functional teams You work well alongside hardware developers, software engineers and system architects Strong logical reasoning to track down issues in real-time distributed networks and see them through to resolution You set and hold the line on clear Definition of Done standards across the delivery pipeline
