Automotive Dealership Workshop Fit Out Technician
Spent your career working in workshops?? Now come and build them and be home every weekend.
Automotive Dealership Workshop Fit Out Technician
Based in Toowoomba, Our Client specializes in the design, fit out and installation of dealership service departments. For more than 36 years they have built a reputation for quality installation, service and maintenance, and today they are recognized as leaders in workshop design and fit out, with projects across Toowoomba, Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Australia wide.
They have designed and fitted out hundreds of workshops for some of Australia's largest dealer groups and prestige brands. With a robust, steady pipeline of work and projects forward booked 2 to 4 months ahead, they are now looking to add two Workshop Fit out Technicians to their existing fit out team.
If you're a mechanic, boilermaker, fitter and turner or a tradesperson with a strong mechanical background, and you're happy to work away Monday to Friday lunchtime with every weekend at home, this is a great opportunity.
What you'll do
You'll travel to client sites, a lot of them new and refurbished dealership and truck workshops, to install the equipment that makes a workshop run. Working from workshop layouts, installation drawings and manufacturer instructions, you'll install vehicle hoists, compressed air pipework and droppers, oil and lubrication systems, pumps and fluid reels, hose reels, workshop cabinetry and cable trays. You'll work alongside builders and other trades, then help test, commission and hand over the finished workshop. There are also equipment relocations and some servicing on existing sites. Each job is planned with a Fit out Coordinator, so the parts and materials are sorted before you get there.
Why this is different
- Cleaner work. A lot of your time is spent in brand new workshops before the doors open, not under a car covered in oil.
- No flat rate clock. You're paid for the hours, not the job times.
- You see the result. Every project ends with a finished workshop you built.
- Your trade skills count. You already know how a workshop should work from the user's side, which is exactly what this role needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and follow workshop layouts, installation drawings and manufacturer instructions
- Install, commission and hand over workshop equipment to a high standard
- Relocate, adjust and repair equipment on existing client sites

- Record job notes, progress photos, time sheets and parts used in the job app, accurately and on time
