Senior management accountant role within State Government

Senior Management Accountant3-Month Contract | Perth CBD | Level 7/8 | Immediate StartAre you an experienced Management Accountant with a strong background in government budgeting and forecasting? We are working with a well-regarded WA State Government organisation seeking a Senior Management Accountant to join their Corporate Services team on an initial three-month contract, with the potential for extension.Based in the Perth CBD, this role offers the opportunity to play a key part in a critical budget reset and submission process while partnering with senior stakeholders across the organisation.Your New RoleReporting to the Acting Director of Corporate Services, you will operate as the lead management accounting specialist within a broader finance team. This is a hands-on role requiring a blend of strategic financial planning, business partnering and reporting capability.Key responsibilities include:

- Leading budget review and reset activities across business units
- Developing forecasts through to financial year-end
- Supporting the preparation of a major State Government budget submission
- Providing management accounting support and financial insights to senior stakeholders
- Reviewing and enhancing Power BI dashboards and reporting capability
- Contributing to strategic asset management planning
- Analysing financial performance and providing recommendations to support decision-making
- Working closely with operational leaders to improve budgeting and forecasting outcomes





What You'll Need to SucceedTo be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Significant management accounting and financial planning experience
- Previous experience within WA State Government environments
- Strong understanding of Treasury budget submission processes
- Proven budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis capability
- Experience using Power BI for dashboarding and reporting
- Experience with Sage or a comparable ERP finance system
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- The ability to work autonomously while partnering effectively across the business
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- CA or CPA qualification, or working towards completion, will be highly regarded
