Remedial Builder - Construction & Maintenance

Main on Construction and Maintenance – Sydney CBD NSW

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Remedial Builder to join our growing team delivering remedial construction, defect rectification, waterproofing, wet area remediation, maintenance, and building repair works throughout Sydney.

This is not a site-based project management role. We are looking for a practical, solution-focused builder who enjoys being on the tools, working across multiple sites, investigating building issues, diagnosing defects, and carrying out remedial repairs.

No two days are the same in this role. Rather than being located on a single construction site, you will work across a variety of residential, commercial, and strata properties throughout Sydney, attending different locations, investigating issues, diagnosing defects, and delivering practical remedial solutions.

You will attend sites to inspect and investigate building defects, water ingress issues, and maintenance concerns, identify the root cause of failures, and implement effective long-term remedial solutions. The role combines technical building knowledge, fault-finding and diagnostic skills, customer interaction, and hands-on construction experience.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, variety in their workday, working independently, and taking ownership of projects from diagnosis through to repair and completion.

Key responsibilities

- Attend sites to investigate building defects and maintenance issues.
- Diagnose water ingress, waterproofing failures, and building defects.
- Determine and recommend suitable remedial solutions.
- Complete remedial construction and repair works.
- Carry out waterproofing, tiling, rendering, plastering, concrete repair, and general building works.
- Complete maintenance and defect rectification works across multiple sites.
- Conduct site inspections and report findings.
- Document defects, repairs, photos, and site records.
- Coordinate subcontractors when required.
- Ensure works are completed safely and in accordance with Australian Standards.





Minimum 5 years' experience in remedial construction, building and maintenance works, waterproofing, wet area remediation, defect rectification, building repairs, or residential and commercial construction.

About You

- You are an experienced remedial builder who can confidently:
- Investigate building defects and water ingress issues.
- Diagnose the cause of failures and deterioration.
- Recommend practical remedial solutions.
- Carry out remedial building works and repairs.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Manage multiple jobs while maintaining quality workmanship.

Minimum 5 years' experience in one or more of the following

- Remedial construction
- Building and maintenance works
- Waterproofing
- Wet area remediation
- Residential and commercial construction

Experience in:

- Water ingress investigations and leak detection
- Waterproofing systems and membrane applications
- Bathroom remediation and reconstruction
- Concrete repairs and concrete cancer treatment
- Crack repairs and structural remediation
- Wall and floor tiling
- Rendering and plastering
- Joint sealing and silicone replacement
- Brickwork and masonry repairs
- Roof leak investigations
- Screeding and substrate preparation
- Building maintenance and repair works
- Reading plans, specifications, and scopes of work

Key Responsibilities

- Attend sites to investigate building defects and maintenance issues.

- Carry out waterproofing, tiling, rendering, plastering, concrete repair, and general building works.

- Conduct site inspections and report findings.
- Document defects, repairs, photos, and site records.
- Coordinate subcontractors when required.Ensure works are completed safely and in accordance with Australian Standards.
- Maintain high levels of workmanship and professionalism.
- Current Driver's Licence.
- Construction White Card.
- Minimum 5 years' construction or remedial building experience.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Experience investigating and rectifying building defects.
- Experience with waterproofing and wet area construction.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Understanding of WHS requirements and safe work practices.
- Ability to complete digital job records and site documentation.

Highly Regarded

- Builder's Licence.
- Waterproofing Licence.
- Trade Qualification.
- Experience working within strata environments.
- Experience preparing defect reports and remedial recommendations.
