Mayi Market provides fresh, affordable food and groceries to Cape York communities, helping reduce the high cost of living.

We are seeking an experienced and reliable HR Truck Driver to collect freight from Cairns suppliers and deliver to Coen, Hope Vale, Wujal Wujal, Mossman Gorge and Aurukun.

Operating a 14-pallet refrigerated heavy rigid truck, you will transport chilled, frozen and grocery products. This hands‑on role suits someone who enjoys regional driving and providing friendly, dependable service.

Duties will include:

- Collecting palletised freight and loading it safely, with correct weight distribution and stacking for each delivery run.
- Delivering food and groceries on sealed and unsealed roads.
- Loading and unloading freight using pallet jacks, trolleys and forklifts where licensed.
- Collecting return freight and completing delivery and consignment paperwork.
- Conducting routine vehicle checks, cleaning the truck and reporting maintenance requirements.
- Completing driver work diaries, trip records and fuel reconciliations.

Qualifications

- A current Heavy Rigid (HR) driver licence.
- Experience driving heavy vehicles on unsealed roads.
- Refrigerated transport experience, including multi‑drop deliveries and manual unloading.




- An understanding of warehouse and transport operations, preferably within the food service industry.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety and food safety requirements, including HACCP.
- A forklift licence and mechanical knowledge are highly desirable.

- Maintain food safety and cold‑chain standards throughout transport and delivery.
- Follow safe manual handling practices and use equipment appropriately.
- Maintain accurate records and promptly report vehicle faults, hazards and incidents.
- Provide respectful, customer‑focused service and build positive relationships with suppliers and community members.
- Demonstrate cultural awareness when working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Work independently and collaboratively, showing initiative, flexibility and attention to detail.
