What if your job wasn't to manage today's organisation, but to help design tomorrow's?

Glen Eira City Council is creating a unique leadership opportunity for a future-focused strategic leader , someone who can help shape what a modern, AI-enabled organisation looks like over the coming years, , including how human capability and agentic AI can work together as part of the future workforce. This is not a traditional transformation, process improvement, or continuous improvement role. It is a brand new role focused on strategic foresight, organisational evolution and the opportunities presented by artificial intelligence.

Reporting to the Manager Organisational Strategy, you will scan the horizon for emerging trends, technologies and workforce shifts, helping Council anticipate change before it becomes necessary to react to it.

You will influence the future direction of the organisation through strategic insight, workforce and operating model redesign, and help shape how AI and agentic capability can be integrated into the way our people, teams and services work to enhance organisational and community outcomes.

The Opportunity

This role is about asking the questions others haven't thought to ask yet.

How will AI reshape the workforce of the future? What capabilities will organisations need five years from now? How should leadership,



governance, service delivery and organisational structures evolve in an increasingly AI-enabled environment?

As Head of Organisational Futures, you will help answer these questions and build a roadmap for action to connect where we are now, with where we want to go. Working closely with the Executive Leadership Team, you will provide strategic advice on future workforce models, organisational design, and operating model evolution. You will connect emerging global trends with practical organisational outcomes, ensuring Glen Eira remains future-ready and positioned to embrace opportunity.

Importantly, you won't be responsible for day-to-day organisational change delivery. Glen Eira already has teams focused on implementation. Your role is to maintain a explicit view of what is coming next, challenge whether current models remain fit for purpose, and help the organisation prepare for the future before change becomes urgent.

About You

You are a big-picture thinker with a deep curiosity about the future of work, technology and organisations.

You may come from enterprise transformation, strategy, organisational design, workforce strategy, consulting, technology-enabled change,



futures planning or a related discipline. What matters most is your ability to connect people, strategy and technology to create meaningful organisational outcomes.

You will bring:

- Experience shaping enterprise-wide strategy, operating models or organisational design
- Strong knowledge of AI, emerging technologies and their implications for organisations and workforces
- Demonstrated capability in strategic foresight, scenario planning, trend analysis or future readiness
- The ability to translate complex ideas into practical organisational strategies
- Exceptional influencing and stakeholder engagement skills
- Gravitas and credibility to engage executives, leaders and elected representatives
- A passion for helping people embrace new possibilities and build confidence in the future
- Systems thinking and the ability to see connections across people, technology, governance and service delivery
