The Role
We are seeking an experienced Microsegmentation Technical Expert to support a major cybersecurity and network security transformation program within a large‑scale enterprise workplace.
This role is ideal for a hands‑on cybersecurity and networking specialist with expertise in Zero Trust Architecture, microsegmentation, network security, and complex infrastructure environments. You will play a key role in the design, proof of concept, implementation, and optimisation of microsegmentation solutions, helping to strengthen security posture and reduce organisational risk.
Working closely with cybersecurity, network, cloud, and infrastructure teams, you will lead the development of segmentation strategies, implement least‑privilege access controls, and support the adoption of modern Zero Trust security models across enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities

- Support the design, Proof of Concept (POC), and implementation of enterprise microsegmentation solutions.
- Develop segmentation strategies aligned with Zero Trust and secure‑by‑design principles.




- Design and implement security policies across applications, workloads, and infrastructure environments.
- Produce High‑Level and Low‑Level Design documentation (HLD/LLD).
- Define trust boundaries, security zones, traffic flows, and segmentation requirements.
- Implement and optimise microsegmentation technologies including Illumio, Cisco, ColorTokens, or similar platforms.
- Configure and maintain least‑privilege security controls to reduce attack surface and lateral movement risks.
- Integrate segmentation platforms with firewalls, identity services, SIEM platforms, and broader security tooling.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity, routing, forwarding, and policy enforcement issues.
- Support Zero Trust Architecture initiatives and cybersecurity uplift programs.
- Conduct technical assessments, threat modelling, and security design reviews.
- Work closely with network engineering, cloud, infrastructure, and application teams to deliver secure outcomes.
- Provide technical guidance and SME expertise on microsegmentation and Zero Trust principles.
- Develop and maintain architecture diagrams, operational procedures, and technical documentation.
- Engage with technology vendors, stakeholders, and support teams to resolve complex technical challenges.

What You'll Need

- 5+ years' experience in network engineering, security engineering, Zero Trust, or microsegmentation environments.
- Hands‑on experience implementing microsegmentation solutions such as Illumio, Cisco Secure Workload, ColorTokens, or equivalent platforms.
- Strong understanding of Zero Trust Architecture and identity‑based security models.
- Deep knowledge of enterprise networking technologies including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, routing, switching, and network security.
- Experience with service provider and enterprise networking technologies including MPLS, BGP, OSPF, and IS-IS.
- Experience designing and implementing firewall policies, zone‑based security, and traffic segmentation controls.
- Strong understanding of security frameworks including NIST 800-207, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls.
- Experience integrating security platforms with SIEM, EDR, NDR, and security monitoring solutions.
- Exposure to cloud and software‑defined networking environments.
- Experience with virtualisation and container technologies including VMware, OpenShift, Kubernetes, and Docker.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.




- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication capabilities.
- Ability to work effectively across complex enterprise and multi‑disciplinary technology teams.

Preferred Skills

- Experience delivering cybersecurity transformation or Zero Trust programs.
- Experience within large‑scale enterprise, telecommunications, financial services, or government environments.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCNP Security, CCIE Security, GIAC, or equivalent.
- Experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Knowledge of infrastructure automation and software‑defined networking technologies.
- Experience supporting compliance, audit, and regulatory security initiatives.
