Run lung function tests and set patients up for home sleep studies across our Sleepscope clinics.
Sleepscope, part of Scope Healthcare, provides sleep and respiratory diagnostics, including lung function testing and home-based sleep studies, through clinics across Melbourne.
We're now looking for a Medical Technician to join our sleep and respiratory team. This is a hands-on, patient-facing role. You'll test patients and prepare sleep study equipment, with our scientists and clinic team behind you.
What you will do
- Perform lung function tests. Run spirometry and other lung function tests to ANZSRS standards, and coach each patient through the breathing efforts.
- Set patients up for home sleep studies. Fit the equipment, explain how to wear it overnight and how to return it, then download the recording when it comes back.
- Prepare patients for their tests. Explain what will happen and answer their questions before you start.
- Keep accurate records. Enter results and patient details in HealthTrack, in line with privacy requirements.
- Look after the equipment. Clean, calibrate and check the testing and sleep study equipment so it is ready for each patient.
- Work closely with our scientists. Pass on anything unusual in a test so the right person can review it.
Requirements
You're careful with detail and good at putting patients at ease, including people who are nervous about their tests.
We're looking for:
- Study in science, health or a related field. Recent graduates and current university students are welcome to apply.
- Clear communication with patients from a wide range of backgrounds.
- Confidence with computers and data entry, including healthcare software such as HealthTrack.
- A current driver's licence, as you may work across more than one clinic.
- Full working rights in Australia.
- A Working with Children Check and police check before you start.
Experience in lung function or sleep testing and a current CPR certificate will be highly regarded.
Benefits
You will have an chance to:
- Build your skills in lung function and sleep testing, with professional development support.
- Work with the latest diagnostic technologies and tools.
- Join a supportive, patient-focused team.
- Be part of one of Melbourne's largest cardiology, sleep and respiratory groups.
- Access team member discounts and offers at a range of retailers, venues and services.
