Join a major energy‑sector project in Smeaton Grange and take ownership of onsite safety, contractor compliance and documentation review. We’re seeking a qualified Health & Safety Officer (minimum Cert IV WHS) with a solid understanding of civil works and safe work practices across construction‑based environments.
About the Role
You’ll work closely with Avant supervisors and multiple contractors to ensure all activities are carried out safely, compliantly and in line with project requirements. This role suits someone confident reviewing WHS documentation, enforcing site rules and supporting civil‑related work processes.
Key Responsibilities
Review SWMS, plant documentation and contractor methodologies
Complete client‑issued checklists and compliance forms
Monitor, enforce and communicate worksite rules
Liaise directly with supervisors regarding contractor performance,
compliance issues and upcoming tasks
Robust understanding of civil works, excavation processes and general construction safety requirements
Support protected work practices across all contractors on site
What You’ll Need
Minimum Cert IV in Work Health & Safety
Robust understanding of WHS legislation and contractor compliance
Experience reviewing SWMS and plant documentation
Knowledge of civil construction processes and associated safety risks
Confident communicator with contractors and site supervisors
Ability to enforce site rules professionally and consistently
