Great opportunity to join a successful and well-established precision engineering business located in Heidelberg West.Our client is a highly regarded Australian engineering company with a strong history of providing precision machining, fabrication and engineering services to a variety of industries.
Due to ongoing work requirements, they are looking for an experienced CNC VMC Machinist / Setter to join their engineering team.
This is a hands-on position involving the setting and operation of CNC Vertical Machining Centres, producing precision-machined components from engineering drawings.
The work involves a variety of machining jobs, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys jobbing work rather than repetitive production machining.
Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:
Setting and operating CNC Vertical Machining Centres
Machining precision components to engineering drawings
Selecting cutting tools, tooling and workholding equipment




Setting machine offsets and machining parameters
Carrying out tool changes and machine adjustments
Checking components using precision measuring equipment
Working to close tolerances and quality requirements
Assisting with other workshop duties when required
Working as part of a skilled engineering team
TO APPLY YOU SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS:
Trade qualifications in Fitting & Machining or similar
Experience setting and operating CNC VMC machines
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Good understanding of cutting tools, feeds and speeds
Experience with precision measuring equipment
Ability to work to tight tolerances
CNC programming experience advantageous
Experience with jobbing or small-batch machining
High attention to detail
