We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our Legal & Compliance team and play a pivotal role in supporting the organisation's regulatory, compliance and legal obligations.About the roleReporting to the Compliance Stream Lead and working closely with the General Counsel, you will provide specialist legal and compliance advice across a broad range of regulatory matters, with a robust focus on legal advice and assessments with respect to incidents, breach reporting, regulatory change, investigations, remediations and compliance risk management.This is a diverse and influential role where you will partner with stakeholders across the business to ensure compliance obligations are met, while supporting strategic initiatives and delivering practical, commercially minded legal advice.Key responsibilitiesProvide legal advice and assess incidents to determine regulatory and compliance impactsSupport breach reporting obligations, investigations and remediation activitiesMonitor and advise on regulatory developments and emerging compliance requirementsProvide legal and compliance advice to business units,



project teams and senior leadersAssist with maintaining and enhancing IMB's compliance framework and programsConduct compliance reviews and analyse trends to identify emerging risks and opportunities for improvementPrepare reports and submissions for internal governance committees, executives, the Board and regulatorsDevelop compliance training and promote a strong culture of compliance across the organisationAbout YouTertiary qualifications in Law and admission to practice in NSWApproximately 5-8+ years' post-admission experienceExperience within financial services, preferably in a retail bank, or an equivalent private practice settingExperience advising on financial services regulatory breaches, reportable situations and compliance obligationsExceptional analytical, investigation and problem-solving skillsStrong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence at all levelsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal matters into practical business adviceWhy IMB?
