An opportunity is now available for a Senior Financial Accountant to join the Brisbane CBD team, taking responsibility for key reporting deliverables while overseeing a small team of accountants.
The Role Reporting to the Finance Manager, you'll have responsibility for the financial accounting and reporting of a portfolio of operations, alongside broader corporate accounting requirements.
This position offers a positive balance between technical accounting, people management and stakeholder engagement.
You'll oversee the quality of financial information, provide guidance to your team and work closely with operational leaders to ensure they have a clear understanding of financial performance.
Key responsibilities include:Overseeing monthly financial reporting, including P&L; statements, balance sheets and cashflow reportingReviewing month-end reconciliations, journals and supporting schedulesManaging financial reporting requirements across multiple entities and business unitsReviewing financial performance against budgets and forecasts, including variance commentaryWorking with operational managers to review financial results and identify areas requiring attentionSupporting annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processesCoordinating audit requirements and assisting with statutory financial statementsOverseeing tax and compliance obligations, including BAS, GST and FBTReviewing payroll-related accounting, debtor balances and other corporate finance activitiesProviding financial analysis and information for senior management and Board reportingLeading,



mentoring and developing a small accounting teamIdentifying opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting and internal controls About you You'll be a technically capable accountant who is ready to take ownership of a broader finance function while continuing to develop your leadership experience.
The role requires someone who can confidently review financial information, manage reporting deadlines and build effective relationships with both finance and operational stakeholders.
You'll ideally bring:CA/CPA qualification with at least four years' accounting experienceA background in financial accounting, senior accounting or a similar positionStrong experience preparing and reviewing financial statements across multiple entitiesSound knowledge of month-end, balance sheet reconciliations and statutory requirementsExperience with budgeting, forecasting and financial performance analysisPrevious experience supervising, mentoring or reviewing the work of junior accountantsStrong Excel skills and confidence working with accounting systemsExcellent communication skills and the ability to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholdersAn organised and proactive approach to managing competing prioritiesAn interest in improving processes and developing more effective ways of workingCandidates making their first move from professional services will also be considered, particularly those with relevant multi-entity accounting experience and exposure to supervising junior staff.
