RN - Mackay Base Hospital - Day Surgery Unit
Mackay Base Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Day Surgery Unit on a two-week contract starting 26 October ****.
Based in Mackay, Queensland, this Grade 5 nursing role offers the prospect to work across extended day surgery in a dynamic healthcare setting.
The position runs through 8 November **** with a maximum of 80 hours per fortnight, working rotating shifts across 6, 8, 10 and 12-hour patterns, including early, late and night shifts across the 24/7 roster.
Two-week contract role in a busy Day Surgery Unit with rotating shift patterns
Maximum 80 hours per fortnight across flexible 6, 8, 10 and 12-hour shifts
Potential to pool to other wards as needed, offering variety and broader clinical exposure
Preferred Requirements
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse in Australia




Ability to work flexibly across rotating early, late and night shifts
Strong clinical communication and teamwork skills in a perioperative environment
Competence with electronic medical records and clinical documentation
Willingness to adapt to different ward areas as required by operational needs
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent qualification with current AHPRA registration
Experience with Queensland Health systems, particularly the ieMR platform
Previous experience working in Australian healthcare settings, ideally within Queensland Health or Mackay Health and Hospital Service
