We are seeking a PhD candidate to join a broader kelp conservation research program at UNSW examining
how policy commitments can lead to real conservation and restoration action

Through KFAs regional and local working groups, the student will engage directly with people implementing conservation in different jurisdictions, test research findings against real-world challenges, build an international professional network, and help co-develop practical pathways for stronger policy and conservation action.

Students will also be encouraged to develop their own research questions within the wider kelp conservation program.
We welcome applicants from
public policy, environmental governance, political science, geography, environmental law, conservation science, environmental management, marine science, and related fields
