D'Arcy Weil is recruiting a Strategic Energy Market Development Manager on behalf of a major global technology business. Based in Melbourne or Sydney, the role works to make sure the business can secure reliable, affordable and clean electricity at scale in Australia, including:

- Setting energy market development strategy and spotting the regulatory, policy and commercial barriers to address
- Leading engagement with regulators, government, industry associations and market participants on connection, network development, market design and data centre electricity access
- Drafting internal energy policy positions, responding to consultations and building industry coalitions
- Supporting energy supply negotiations and data centre development with technical and market expertise
- Keeping senior relationships across network operators, regulators and government

It suits an energy market insider who is as comfortable writing a consultation response as sitting across from a network operator, and who can turn a policy position into a commercial outcome.

The Role

- Market strategy: Design and direct energy market development strategy across the Australian electricity market, identifying regulatory, policy and commercial barriers and the approaches to overcome them
- External advocacy: Lead engagement with regulators, government, industry associations and market participants on connection processes, network development, market design and data centre electricity access
- Policy and consultation: Draft internal energy policy positions, contribute to and respond to regulatory consultations,



and build coalitions with industry stakeholders that advance the company's energy goals
- Commercial support: Back energy supply negotiations and data centre development with technical and market expertise for the site selection, energy procurement and negotiation teams
- Stakeholder relationships: Maintain productive, senior-level relationships across the Australian energy sector, including network operators, regulators, government and industry bodies

About You

- A degree in a relevant discipline
- 10+ years leading negotiations or market development in the energy sector
- Deep knowledge of the Australian electricity market, including connection processes, network planning, market design and grid tariffs
- Experience engaging with regulators, government and industry stakeholders on energy policy
- Robust writing, with experience drafting policy positions and consultation responses
- A background in energy market regulation, network policy or data centre energy strategy advantageous
