D’Arcy Weil is recruiting a Legal Counsel on behalf of a major mining business with Australian operations. The Perth-based role sits within the legal function and supports a multi-site mining and processing operation, including:

- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements, and advising on procurement and tenders
- Advising on regulatory obligations and on how legislative change affects the operations
- Supporting land tenure, native title and cultural heritage matters
- Preparing governance documents and supporting company secretarial work
- Helping manage disputes and working with external advisors

It suits a practical lawyer who explains legal issues in plain terms to people on site and in the business, and who is comfortable covering a broad range of work.

The Role

- Commercial advisory: Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, and advise internal stakeholders on commercial arrangements, procurement and tender processes
- Regulatory and compliance: Advise on regulatory obligations across the Australian operations, and keep the business informed of legislative change and what it means in practice
- Land, heritage and native title: Support matters involving land tenure, native title and cultural heritage across the operational footprint
- Governance and documentation: Prepare,



review and maintain legal and corporate documents, and support company secretarial work, including board papers, statutory filings and registers
- Disputes: Assist with contentious matters and potential disputes, working with external advisors where needed
- Knowledge and capability: Contribute to legal training, knowledge sharing and improvement across the wider business

About You

- 5+ years PQE in corporate, commercial or in-house legal roles
- A mining or resources background preferred
- A solid command of Australian legal and regulatory frameworks
- The ability to explain legal concepts clearly to non-lawyers
- Professionalism, integrity and close attention to detail
