Exceptional people. One national ambition.
Help shape the future of Australia’s rail industry.
Australia’s rail industry is entering an exciting period of transformation, and ARISO is right at the centre of it.
We’re looking for an exceptional Executive Director, Insights, Impact & Adoption to help bring industry together, turn insights into action and drive meaningful change across Australia’s national rail network.
This is an opportunity to influence national reform, build strong partnerships and lead a talented team working to deliver safer, more efficient and better-connected railways.
About ARISO
The Australian Rail Industry Standards Organisation (ARISO) is a national, industry-owned, not-for-profit organisation with an ambitious purpose: to help create a safer, more productive and interoperable Australian rail network.
We’re evolving into a stronger national technical authority, bringing industry, government and regulators together to modernise standards, strengthen collaboration and accelerate industry adoption.
We’re building something special at ARISO. Our people are curious, collaborative and passionate about making a difference. We value fresh thinking, genuine relationships and people who enjoy rolling up their sleeves to achieve great outcomes together.
About the opportunity
Reporting directly to the CEO and joining our executive leadership team, you’ll lead ARISO’s national engagement, economic insights and standards adoption agenda.
You’ll play a pivotal role in connecting technical reform with real industry outcomes, building consensus and helping stakeholders understand the advantages of national harmonisation.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead ARISO’s national industry engagement strategy, building strong partnerships across rail, government and regulatory bodies.
- Drive industry alignment and support the adoption of Australia’s new national standards framework.
- Oversee economic insights, cost-benefit analysis and business cases that demonstrate the value of national harmonisation.
- Lead strategic industry development groups and communities of practice.
- Build, inspire and develop high-performing teams across engagement, adoption, economics and insights.
- Shape compelling communications that translate complex reform into clear, meaningful outcomes.
- Work closely with the CEO and executive team to deliver ARISO’s ambitious reform agenda.
About you
You’re an accomplished, engaging executive who brings people together, sees the bigger picture and knows how to turn strategy into results.
You’ll bring:
- Significant senior leadership experience in industry engagement, public policy, strategic partnerships or a related field.
- Experience navigating complex, multi-stakeholder environments, ideally within rail, transport, infrastructure or another safety-critical industry.
- Strong commercial, economic and policy understanding.
- A track record of leading teams and delivering meaningful organisational or industry change.
- Excellent influencing, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- The confidence to engage with senior government, regulatory and industry stakeholders.
- A collaborative, approachable leadership style, balanced with the courage to challenge thinking and drive progress.
Most importantly, you’ll share our enthusiasm for building something better and making a genuine difference.
Why join ARISO?
This is more than an executive leadership role. It’s an opportunity to help shape a national organisation at a defining moment in its evolution.
At ARISO, you’ll find:
- Meaningful work: Contribute to reforms that will shape Australia’s rail industry for years to come.
- National influence: Work alongside industry leaders, government and regulators to drive lasting change.
- Great people: Join a supportive, collaborative team that values different perspectives and fresh ideas.
- Opportunity to lead: Help shape ARISO’s future, build capability and develop a strong, positive culture.
- Flexibility: Be based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane, with opportunities to collaborate nationally.
