Grampians Sandstone is seeking an experienced Quarry Manager to play a key role in the long-term development of our sandstone extraction operations in Dunkeld, Victoria. Help shape the future of a premium dimensional stone quarry with substantial reserves and a strong pipeline of work.

This is a rare opportunity for someone with strong dimensional stone and wire saw extraction experience to take ownership of a developing operation, train a small team, and help establish systems and practices that will support the quarry for years to come.

This is not a desk-based management role.

We're looking for someone who enjoys being in the quarry, planning extraction activities, operating equipment when required, coaching team members, and leading by example.

About the Role

Reporting directly to company leadership, you will lead a small team of 2-3 operators while remaining actively involved in day-to-day quarry operations.

You will help plan extraction activities, coordinate wire saw cutting programs, improve productivity and safety outcomes, and develop the skills of a growing workforce.

The role offers genuine work-life balance with a Monday to Friday roster and day-shift hours.

What You'll Be Doing

- Planning and coordinating wire saw extraction activities

- Leading, training and mentoring a small team

- Driving protected and efficient quarry operations

- Operating excavators, loaders and quarry equipment as required

- Planning production activities and extraction sequencing

- Assisting with continuous improvement initiatives

- Maintaining high housekeeping and safety standards

- Working closely with leadership to support quarry growth

- Ensure operations adhere to environmental & regulatory compliance

- Ensure plant and equipment is maintained and operated efficiently

What We're Looking For

Essential:

- Demonstrated wire saw extraction experience





- Experience working within dimensional stone or quarry operations

- Ability to lead, train and mentor operators

- Excavator ticket

- Loader ticket

- Strong planning and organisational skills

- Practical hands-on approach to leadership

- Commitment to safety and team development

- Sound commercial and budget management capability

Highly Regarded:

- A Diploma in Extractive Industries, an engineering degree or equivalent.

- Experience establishing or growing quarry operations

- Experience in sandstone or dimensional stone extraction

- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
