Job Description

JRT Group is a family-owned and operated throughout in Central Queensland. For over 20 years, JRT Group has shown a passion and a dedication for our work that has helped us to gain large numbers of satisfied clients. We offer everything from bulk earthworks to plant hire to our clients for a broad range of projects across the region.

Our commitment to quality work and to each client we work with has made us one of the premier civil contracting companies in Central Queensland. JRT Group is in need of experienced Systems Analyst (Business Systems & Process) to join us and bring their expertise to our dedicated hardworking team. The Systems Analyst is responsible for evaluating how JRT Group’s business processes and ICT systems currently operate, and for proposing, specifying and helping implement improvements.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Working with project, workshop, hire and finance teams, the role investigates and documents existing procedures, identifies inefficiencies, and designs system-supported task flows and integrations that make better use of the platforms the Group already owns. The role also supports the integration of AI-assisted tools into everyday business workflows – assessing where they can reduce manual effort, speed up reporting and decision-making, and strengthen the platforms already in use – so that systems are used to their full capacity and overall productivity improves.

Work with project managers, workshop supervisors, hire coordinators, finance and administrative staff to define and document business requirements. Investigate and analyse existing business processes, procedures and work practices across civil projects, the machinery workshop and equipment hire, and map how information and tasks currently flow between teams and systems. Evaluate how existing platforms (e.g. Procore, MYOB, Microsoft 365 tools, Microsoft Project) are being used, identify gaps, duplication and manual workarounds, and recommend improvements and better use of existing functionality.

Design and document system-supported task flows, approval steps,

checklists and reporting that guide work through each business process (for example job set-up, plant servicing and maintenance, equipment hire booking and return, progress claims and cost tracking). Support work health and safety (WHS) reporting and designing system-supported workflows for incident, inspection and compliance records across project sites, the machinery workshop and equipment hire. Use process and data modelling to produce clear functional specifications, and where needed liaise with software vendors, developers or integrators to deliver configurations, integrations or automation between platforms.

Evaluate AI-assisted and automation tools for suitability, cost and risk, and recommend where they can streamline reporting, data entry, scheduling and document handling. Plan and coordinate system improvement projects, including scope, timelines, resources and cost, and report progress to management. Develop and execute test plans and user acceptance testing to confirm that changes meet requirements and maintain data quality and system integrity before go-live.

Prepare user guides, procedures and training materials, and deliver training and ongoing support to staff on new or changed systems and processes. Monitor system performance, data quality and user adoption after implementation, and recommend further refinements. Act as a central reference point and adviser to management on ICT system decisions and process improvement.

Required Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, Personal Attributes)

KNOWLEDGE Working knowledge of REST APIs, SQL and automation/scripting sufficient to specify and assess integrations between business platforms.

Knowledge of business process analysis and documentation methods, including process maps, requirements and functional specifications, and process and data modelling.

Knowledge of structured project delivery methods for requirements, testing and documentation. Desirable: Experience with, or the ability to quickly learn, construction and project-management platforms (e.g. Procore), accounting systems (e.g. MYOB).

Desirable: Exposure to equipment maintenance, asset management or hire-management systems. Desirable: Familiarity with AI-assisted business tools, low-code/workflow automation platforms (e.g. Zoho Creator), and reporting and collaboration tools (e.g. Power BI, Power Automate, SharePoint, etc.) Desirable: Awareness of the Group’s IT environment, including Sophos firewall and VPN and McDesk, and the ability to work within its security and remote-access arrangements.
