Cairns Pools is seeking an experienced and reliable Pool Tiler to join our team, specialising in the construction and finishing of custom in-ground concrete swimming pools throughout Cairns and Far North Queensland. The successful applicant will be responsible for installing pool coping, waterline tiles, pool surrounds and associated finishes, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard in accordance with approved plans, relevant Australian Standards and manufacturer specifications.

Key responsibilities

Read and interpret pool construction plans, measurements and tile layouts

Prepare surfaces for tiling, including cleaning, grinding, levelling and substrate preparation

Measure, cut and install porcelain, ceramic, natural stone and mosaic tiles

Install swimming pool coping, including bullnose and mitred-edge finishes

Install waterline tiles, feature tiles and mosaic finishes to concrete swimming pools

Lay and finish tiled pool surrounds, including setting correct levels, gradients and drainage falls

Complete grouting, silicone sealing, movement joints and finishing works

Carry out minor screeding, levelling and surface preparation where required

Ensure all tiling is correctly aligned, level and finished to a qualified standard

Coordinate with supervisors, pool builders and other trades throughout construction

About you

Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling or equivalent recognised trade qualification is essential





Minimum 3 years of practical tiling experience, preferably in swimming pool construction

Experience installing pool coping, waterline tiles, natural stone and porcelain tiles is highly regarded

Strong understanding of tile preparation, adhesives, grouting, silicone and finishing techniques

Ability to interpret construction drawings and accurately measure and calculate materials

Experience setting out levels and falls for pool surrounds and drainage

Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, NCC requirements and QBCC licensing obligations

Ability to work independently and as part of a construction team

Current Construction White Card

Current driver's licence and reliable transport

Annual salary of $82,000–$87,000 plus 12% superannuation, depending on experience and qualifications

Full-time, ongoing employment

Overtime paid separately, with applicable allowances
