Nepean Lung and Sleep is seeking aRespiratory Scientist to join our dedicated team in Kingswood, NSW. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in delivering high-quality respiratory care and services to our patients. As a Respiratory Scientist, you will be at the forefront of clinical care, utilising your expertise in respiratory physiology to support the diagnosis and management of lung disorders. This role is integral to our mission of providing comprehensive, evidence-based respiratory and sleep health services to our community.
Key responsibilities
- Perform pulmonary function tests, including spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion capacity and bronchial challenge testing
- Maintain and calibrate respiratory testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability
- Prepare detailed reports of test results for review by respiratory physicians and sleep medicine specialists
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards, infection control protocols and occupational health and safety regulations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams to optimise patient outcomes
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records in accordance with medical documentation standards
What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Medical or related Health Science or equivalent qualification
- Demonstrated competency in pulmonary function testing and interpretation
- Strong technical proficiency with respiratory testing equipment
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy in testing and reporting
- Outstanding communication skills to effectively interact with patients, medical practitioners and colleagues
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Professional approach to patient care with empathy and cultural sensitivity
- Relevant experience in a hospital, laboratory or clinical respiratory setting is highly valued
