St Andrew's Anglican College – Peregian Beach QLD
St Andrew's is an award-winning, co-educational Prep to Year 12 College with a wonderful reputation across the Sunshine Coast for providing a first-class education. With an enrolment of more than 1,400 students, we combine the best aspects of a traditional Anglican education with a vision for what students need for their futures – underpinned by our values of Respect and Compassion, Curiosity and Courage, and Engagement and Commitment. St Andrew's offers a varied and highly regarded Co-curricular Program. Water Polo is a proud and well-established part of our sporting culture across both the Primary and Secondary years and with the launch of our College teams into the Brisbane Metropolitan competition there is much excitement and opportunity for squad development ahead.
About the Role:
Full‑time Water Polo roles inside a school are rare, so don’t pass up this amazing opportunity. We are looking for an experienced and passionate Head Coach & Coordinator to lead, grow and shape our established Water Polo program across both the Primary and Secondary School.
Reporting to the Director of Sport, you will own the vision for the program. You will set the technical and tactical direction, coach our senior and/or representative teams yourself, and steer the program’s day‑to‑day operation and long‑term strategy. That includes recruiting and mentoring year level coaches, planning seasons, managing the budget, and driving our continued involvement in Water Polo Queensland competitions and pathways.
This is a chance to build a program from the pool deck up, combining high‑level coaching with genuine leadership in a role few others in the sport can offer.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide strategic leadership and day‑to‑day management of the Primary and Secondary Water Polo program, including season planning, budgeting and long‑term development.
- Personally coach the College's senior and/or representative team(s), including pool‑side session delivery.
- Design and implement a consistent coaching curriculum and technical/tactical framework across all year levels.
- Recruit,
mentor and manage the performance of year level coaches and team managers, in collaboration with the Director of Sport.
- Coordinate and communicate training, trials, gala days and fixtures to students, parents and staff.
- Act as the College's primary liaison with Water Polo Queensland and other relevant associations.
- Manage the program budget, uniforms, sponsorship opportunities and promotion of the program.
- Plan and coordinate tours, development squads and representative pathways.
- With the support of the People and Culture team, ensure all coaching staff and volunteers meet Blue Card, Child Safe Organisations Act 2024 and WHS requirements.
What You Bring:
You will be a strategic, hands‑on leader who coaches by example, and you will bring:
- Demonstrated ability to coach at a high level, with solid technical knowledge of skills, tactics and athlete development.
- Recognised coaching accreditation (Water Polo Australia/Water Polo Queensland highly regarded) and/or significant experience in Water Polo, with strong knowledge of WPQ competition structures and pathways.
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing a sporting or co‑curricular program, including recruiting and managing coaching staff, ideally within a school or club environment.
- Well‑developed budgeting and financial administration skills.
- High‑level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, staff and external sporting bodies.
- Sound understanding of child safety obligations, Working with Children (Blue Card) requirements and WHS legislation.
- You will also hold, or be willing to obtain, a current Blue Card, current CPR certificate (First Aid desirable)
and a current Australian driver's licence.
St Andrew’s Anglican College is committed to safeguarding the welfare and safety of students, with a strong commitment to child safety, equal employment opportunity, and diversity in the workplace.
