We currently have one (1) fixed term, full time opportunity for up to 3 (three) months commencing as soon as possible with the possibility of extensions and/or permanency.

This selection process may be used to fill other similar at level vacancies that arise within twelve (12) months. Applicants deemed suitable but not recommended may be considered for those roles.

About the Role

The District Officer Natural Hazards is responsible for the management of all resources under their control to ensure effective operational capability and support, based on comprehensive emergency management principles. They are also responsible for specific work activities to support the Regional Business Plan as defined by the regional Superintendent.

This position is based in Northam but oversees and supports the management and effectiveness of the Northam, Toodyay-Morangup, Merredin and Kalgoorlie SES Units.



The development of respectful volunteer and stakeholder relationships is essential to support contemporary emergency management outcomes to reduce the impact of emergencies on our communities.

The District Officer Natural Hazards contributes to the strategic management of the region through the implementation of strategic initiatives and community centred emergency management activities. This position is the DFES representative on a number of Local Emergency Management Committees to advise on effective emergency planning, prevention and preparation outcomes.

Prerequisites

Successful applicants must have the following prerequisites:

- Accredited Level 1 Incident Controller or Endorsed DFES Level 1 Incident Controller or equivalent in hazards relevant to natural hazards and technical rescue.
