Senior DevAx Engineer | Developer Acceleration
Are you a Senior Software Engineer who loves making developers more productive?
We’re looking for a Senior DevAx Engineer to help shape the tools, platforms and engineering practices that enable development teams to build better software, faster.
This is a highly hands‑on role sitting at the intersection of software engineering, developer experience, cloud and automation. You’ll work across engineering teams to improve the platforms and tooling they use every day, while staying at the forefront of emerging technologies and modern development practices.
What you’ll be doing
- Help developers become more productive by improving tools, platforms and engineering processes
- Take ownership of and continually evolve a heavily utilised GitHub platform
- Work across AWS, GitHub, Backstage and API development
- Assess, introduce and continuously improve new tools and capabilities
- Develop and maintain high-quality, automated solutions
- Provide guidance and hands‑on support to engineering teams across projects
- Help teams become more self‑sufficient in GitHub and modern development practices
- Uplift code quality, engineering standards and development practices
- Work closely with Application Security, Cloud Platform and Engineering teams
- Translate security requirements into practical tooling and engineering patterns
- Explore how AI and emerging technology can improve software development
- Build APIs and integrations and automate AWS environments
- Keep the developer platform up-to-date,
reliable and continuously evolving
About you
You’ll come from a strong software engineering/development background and enjoy solving problems that make other engineers more effective.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has operated at Senior Engineer level
- Is a strong hands‑on coder — this isn't an infrastructure‑only role
- Has extensive experience with GitHub and AWS
- Is highly proficient in Python and TypeScript
- Has experience building APIs and integrations
- Understands CI/CD pipelines and modern engineering practices
- Has experience with AWS services including VPC, EC2, ECS, S3, Lambda, RDS and CloudFormation
- Has experience with Docker/containerisation
- Understands RESTful APIs and JSON/XML
- Can work effectively with security, cloud and engineering stakeholders
- Enjoys mentoring, guiding and sharing knowledge with other engineers
- Is naturally curious and constantly looking for better ways to do things
Why this role?
This is an opportunity to have genuine influence over how engineers build software across a large technology environment.
You'll get variety, exposure to different engineering teams and projects, and the opportunity to work on technology that directly enables other developers. You’ll be expected to enable others, but you’ll still be hands‑on technically and able to see the end product of what you build.
If you're a software engineer who enjoys solving problems at scale, exploring new technology and making other engineers better, we'd love to hear from you.
