About Oak Tree Early Learning Centre
Oak Tree Early Learning Centre is a proud, independently operated service in the heart of West Pymble on Sydney’s Upper North Shore. We are a small family run business committed to supporting our team and helping them thrive. Our 60 place centre is purpose built, beautifully resourced and underpinned by a genuine commitment to high quality early childhood education and care.
The Opportunity
This is a great opportunity to run your own fully equipped commercial kitchen in a respected, independent centre in one of Sydney’s most sought after family communities. As our Centre Cook, you will prepare fresh, nutritious meals for children across all age groups. You will play a central role in their health, wellbeing and enjoyment of food.
You will be supported by an engaged and hands on ownership team and work closely with a warm, close knit team of educators who value your contribution every day.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Preparing and serving five daily meal services, from breakfast through to late afternoon tea, following our approved four week seasonal menu.
- Preparing age appropriate portions, textures and presentation for children from babies through to preschoolers.
- Safely preparing vegetarian, allergy safe and special diet meals using our clear identification and verification procedures.
- Applying high standards of food safety, hygiene, cleaning and temperature control,
and keeping daily kitchen records up to date.
- Receiving deliveries, managing stock rotation and placing routine orders with management approval.
- Keeping the kitchen clean, safe and well organised.
- Communicating with the Centre Manager and educators about attendance, dietary updates, menu changes and meal timing.
About You
- A current Food Safety Supervisor certificate and food handler training (essential).
- A current NSW Working With Children Check, or the ability to obtain one before starting.
- Experience cooking in a commercial kitchen. Experience in an early childhood, school or similar setting is highly regarded.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly around allergies and dietary requirements.
- Current First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis certification is advantageous. Willingness to obtain is required.
- A reliable, organised and friendly approach, with a genuine care for children.
What We Offer
- A competitive salary plus superannuation, negotiated based on your experience.
- Your own purpose built commercial kitchen in a beautiful, well resourced centre.
- Regular daytime hours with no late nights or weekends.
- Genuine support from an approachable, hands on ownership and leadership team.
- A stable centre with a strong community reputation.
- A collaborative team culture where your ideas and contribution are valued.
We are an equal chance employer and welcome applications from all backgrounds. We are committed to child safety, and all appointments are subject to satisfactory background checks.
