Physiotherapist – Acute Injury & Fracture Clinic

Access Ortho | Primarily Indooroopilly, with possible work becoming available in Ipswich | Permanent or casual

Bring your fracture clinic or emergency department experience to a focused acute injury role with orthopaedic surgeon support.

Access Ortho is seeking an experienced physiotherapist with experience working in fracture clinics or emergency departments to join our acute injuries clinic.

The role is primarily based in Indooroopilly, with possible work in Ipswich if suitable for the applicant. Permanent or casual arrangements are available, with flexible days and hours within our opening hours of Monday to Friday, 8:30 am–5:30 pm.

You will assess and manage your own patient load of adults and children of all ages, supported remotely and on site by orthopaedic surgeons.

The role focuses on acute injury assessment, management, casting and follow-up. Physiotherapy input is limited to standard advice and guidance for the acute injury, rather than ongoing hands‑on treatment or rehabilitation sessions.

The role

- Assessing acute musculoskeletal injuries and developing management plans within your professional scope and clinic protocols.
- Applying casts and other appropriate immobilisation.
- Providing practical advice about injury protection, activity, mobility and recovery.
- Reviewing patients and monitoring their progress.
- Recognising concerns requiring medical review and coordinating care with our orthopaedic surgeons.

- Maintaining clear clinical notes and correspondence.
- Assisting Orthopaedic Surgeons with follow-up patient clinics.

New patient appointments are typically 30 minutes. Remote orthopaedic surgeon support is available by phone or secure messaging, with quick escalation when required.

About you

We are looking for a physiotherapist with:

- Current AHPRA registration.
- Relevant experience working in a fracture clinic or emergency department.
- Strong knowledge of acute upper and lower limb orthopaedic injuries.
- Fracture casting skills.
- Confidence managing an individual patient load, including adults and children, within your clinical scope.
- Sound clinical judgement, including recognising red flags and when to seek medical or surgical input.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.

Applicants who may require further casting upskilling are welcome to discuss their experience and training needs with us.

What we offer

- A focused acute injury role that makes use of your assessment and casting skills.
- Orthopaedic surgeon support remotely and on site.
- Adaptable days and hours, with permanent or casual arrangements.
- An hourly rate negotiated according to your clinical skills and experience.
- On-site training, with the possibility of arranging further casting upskilling where needed.
- Gentu clinical software and AI Scribe to assist with clinical notes and letters.

Commencement is flexible, with an early start preferred.
