AXIA Solutions

Sydney

AXIA Solutions supports children and young people living in OOHC who need safe, reliable and consistent support to remain connected with their families and communities. We are seeking dependable, child-focused workers for community access, transport and supervised family contact.

This is a frontline role where sound judgement, calm communication, professional boundaries and accurate documentation matter every shift.

What you will do

· Transport children and young people to and from school, appointments, family contact and community activities.

· Supervise family contact in line with the contact plan, safety directions and AXIA procedures.

· Help children feel safe and supported through transitions, using age-appropriate communication and positive role-modelling.

· Observe and record relevant interactions factually, distinguishing what you saw or heard from what others told you.

· Promptly communicate safety concerns, changes in presentation, incidents and reportable information to your supervisor.

· Follow child protection, privacy, vehicle safety, car-restraint and professional-boundary requirements.

Hours and practical requirements

Shifts vary with client needs and may include afternoons, evenings, weekends and school holidays. Applicants must be available on average for at least three weekday afternoons per week, generally between 2:30 pm and 6:30 pm. Some assignments may involve longer journeys. Average travel time to a shift (one way) is 30 – 60 minutes.

Essential requirements

· Certificate IV in Community Services (Welfare)

or a related field; OR at least eight completed units of a relevant bachelor’s degree (for example Social Work, Psychology, Teaching, Nursing, Policing). AXIA will assess relevance against the duties.

· Current NSW Working With Children Check suitable for paid employment.

· National Police Check issued within the previous 12 months.

· Current First Aid certificate.

· Full unrestricted Australian driver licence (P1/P2 licences are not accepted for this role).

· Reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance and at least two suitable child-restraint anchor points; willingness to use it for approved work travel.

· Safe driving history, ability to undertake required travel, and access to a mobile phone with internet.

· Ability to meet the role’s physical and safety requirements.

· Understanding of NSW child protection, mandatory reporting, out-of-home care and child-safe practice.

· Availability for the minimum weekday-afternoon commitment above.

Desirable experience

· Experience with children or young people in out-of-home care, education, disability or community services.

· Experience responding calmly to distress, challenging behaviour or family conflict.

· Knowledge of child car restraints and relevant Australian Standards and NSW requirements; access to suitable restraints.

· Additional language skills and experience working respectfully with diverse communities.

What AXIA is looking for

We value people who are reliable, observant, respectful, emotionally steady, willing to follow plans and comfortable asking for guidance. You do not need to know every answer immediately: you do need to recognise risk, protect the child, communicate promptly and follow procedure.

Recruitment process

Shortlisted applicants will complete a structured interview and a short, supervised, job-related scenario exercise. The exercise assesses practical judgement and safe decision-making, not polished essay writing. References and required screening checks will be completed before appointment.

Inclusion and child safety

AXIA encourages applications from people of diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, LGBTQIA+ people, people with disability and culturally and linguistically diverse communities. We are committed to child-safe practice and to considering reasonable adjustments throughout recruitment and employment.
