About this Health Service
This Health Service is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO) that has been providing holistic and culturally secure healthcare to remote communities since 1993.
The service provides comprehensive primary healthcare, emergency services and community based programs to the local community and surrounding areas.

About the role
As part of the Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) team, you will provide culturally safe mental health and wellbeing support to individuals, families and the wider community, including people impacted by domestic and family violence (DFV).

Based in a close knit community of approximately 400 people, this DV funded role offers the opportunity to make a genuine difference. Working autonomously and alongside a supportive, family like team, delivering counselling, assessments and therapeutic support while responding to the diverse and often complex needs of the community.

At the heart of the role is a community drop in centre,

providing an accessible and welcoming space where people can seek support as needs arise. No two days will look the same. From supporting individuals and families with mental health challenges, DFV and Centrelink needs to responding to crises, coordinating evacuations and participating in bush group and camping activities, you will take a hands on approach to supporting community wellbeing.

Responsibilities will include:

- Providing counselling, therapeutic support and evidence based interventions
- Conduct mental health and psychosocial assessments, developing recovery plans and responding to crises.
- Supporting people in the community experiencing mental health concerns, trauma, grief, domestic violence, alcohol and other drug issues, and complex social and emotional challenges.
- Working alongside Aboriginal Health Workers, community members and health professionals to coordinate care, referrals and ongoing support.
- Contributing to culturally appropriate mental health promotion, education and collaborative care planning.
- Maintaining clinical documentation and supporting continuity of care for people with complex needs.

Essential Requirements

- Must hold a relevant qualification in mental health nursing, counselling, social work, psychology or another relevant mental health discipline.
- AHPRA registration is required if you are applying as a Registered Nurse with relevant mental health experience
- Demonstrate previous experience working within mental health, counselling or Social & Emotional Wellbeing services
- You will need to have strong assessment, counselling and case management skills, with experience supporting people impacted by domestic and family violence (DFV)

and delivering culturally safe, trauma informed care.
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills, with the ability to build trust and engage effectively with individuals, families and the community
- Experience working autonomously or within a community/primary healthcare environment
- Previous experience processing and assessing Centrelink applications desirable
- Current unrestricted driver's licence
- Previous experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities is desirable
- Full Australian Working Rights

If you are a proactive, adaptable professional with a can do attitude and the confidence to work autonomously, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference. You will thrive in a role where no two days are the same, embracing changing community needs and a diverse range of projects and complex situations.
