About the Role
At Strive Community Care, we believe every child and young person deserves to feel safe, valued and supported to reach their full potential.
We’re growing our team and looking for passionate, compassionate Casual and Permanent Part-time Therapeutic Care Workers in the Sunshine Coast region who want to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and young people who have experienced complex trauma, abuse and neglect.
In this rewarding role, you’ll provide therapeutic, relationship-based care in our homes, helping young people build trust, develop life skills and work towards positive, lasting change. You’ll also have the opportunity to mentor young people in Out-of-Home Care (OOHC) through our WeStrive Mentoring Program.
Important availability requirements: These positions require availability to work across a 24/7 rotating roster, including a minimum of 1–2 sleepover shifts per week, weekends and public holidays. Applicants must also be available to work throughout the December–January holiday period, including all major public holidays. Flexibility, reliability and a willingness to work across a variety of shifts are essential.
What Makes Strive Different?
Our care is guided by a strong Therapeutic Framework and our unique CREATE Model of Care, with holistic safety at the centre of everything we do.
We create environments where young people can experience a sense of belonging, build meaningful relationships, heal from past experiences and develop the confidence to shape their futures.
At Strive, it’s not just about providing care. It’s about showing up consistently, building trust and helping young people discover what’s possible.

- Promoting safety and wellbeing: Implement Behaviour Support Plans and Individual Crisis Management Plans to support safety, stability and positive outcomes.
- Developing life skills: Support young people with everyday tasks such as cooking, meal planning, budgeting, shopping, household responsibilities and independent living.
- Providing trauma-informed care: Understand the impact of complex trauma and respond to distress and pain-based behaviours with empathy,
patience and a non-punitive approach.
- Being a positive role model: Encourage young people to participate in meaningful activities, strengthen their self-esteem and develop confidence, resilience and independence.
- Supporting personal growth: Help young people build healthy connections, develop practical skills and work towards their individual goals.
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for people who are compassionate, resilient and motivated to help young people achieve positive outcomes. You’ll bring a genuine commitment to trauma-informed care, relationship building and creating opportunities for young people to thrive.
To be considered, you’ll need:
- A completed Certificate IV or higher qualification in Youth Work, Social Work, Counselling or a related field, or be currently enrolled in a relevant qualification.
- A current Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
- A current NDIS Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card).
- An LCS2 Check (must already hold one or apply during the interview process).
- A valid Queensland driver’s licence.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates
- A Hope and Healing Module or be willing to complete one
- A completed NDIS Workers orientation module or willing to complete one
- Availability to work a 24/7 rotating roster, including 1–2 sleepover shifts per week, weekends and all major public holidays throughout the December–January period.
The following experience and attributes will also be highly regarded:
- Experience supporting children and young people who have experienced complex trauma.
- Skills in case planning, behaviour support and report writing.
- Cultural knowledge and/or lived experience that supports an inclusive, culturally secure and responsive approach to working with young people.
