The Institute of Culinary Excellence – Coorparoo QLD

Casual Barista & RSA Trainer and Assessor

Institute of Culinary Excellence | Coorparoo, Brisbane

Great coffee. Real industry experience. Training with personality.

Are you an experienced barista or hospitality professional who loves sharing your skills and knows how to bring a room to life?

The Institute of Culinary Excellence (ICE) is looking for a Casual Barista and Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Trainer and Assessor who brings industry know-how, positive energy and a practical approach to learning.

If you can turn an espresso demonstration into an engaging learning experience and make responsible service scenarios relevant and memorable, we’d love to hear from you.

About the role

You’ll help students develop the skills, confidence and professional standards they need to step into café and hospitality work.

Your role will include:

- Delivering practical, engaging barista and RSA training.
- Teaching espresso preparation, milk texturing, equipment care and café workflow.
- Bringing RSA concepts to life through industry examples, discussions and role plays.
- Creating a welcoming setting where students feel comfortable asking questions and practising current skills.
- Assessing student competency, providing constructive feedback and maintaining accurate assessment records.
- Working with the ICE team to deliver quality training that connects learning with real workplace expectations.

This casual position offers an opportunity to share your expertise while staying connected to the hospitality industry.

About you

You know your way around a coffee machine, understand the realities of hospitality service and enjoy helping others succeed.

We’re looking for someone who:

- Has current, relevant industry experience in barista operations and the responsible service of alcohol.
- Holds relevant hospitality qualifications or units of competency for the training delivered.
- Holds a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, such as TAE40116 or TAE40122, or another recognised training and assessment credential appropriate to the role.
- Brings a fun, energetic and professional delivery style that keeps students involved.
- Can explain skills clearly, demonstrate good practice and adapt to different learning needs.
- Builds rapport with young people and learners from diverse backgrounds.
- Is organised, reliable and committed to quality training, assessment and student support.

Previous training experience is valued. Just as important is your ability to connect with learners, share practical industry knowledge and make learning enjoyable.

Why join ICE?

At ICE, we believe great hospitality training starts with industry experience, genuine connection and plenty of opportunities to practise.

You’ll join a supportive team that values fresh ideas, engaging delivery and helping students build successful futures.

This role is ideal for a hospitality professional looking to combine industry work with a rewarding training role—or an experienced trainer who wants to bring their passion and personality to ICE’s barista and RSA programs.
