HOBAN Recruitment is seeking an experienced APS6 Finance Coordinator – External Budgets & Capital to join a Federal Government organisation in Canberra.

Bring your government budgeting expertise to a role supporting Commonwealth Budget processes, capital planning and strategic financial advice. Working within a collaborative finance team, you will coordinate budget deliverables and provide guidance to stakeholders on complex financial matters.

About the role

Your responsibilities will include:

- Leading external and capital budget processes, including maintaining budget information in CBMS.
- Providing advice on New Policy Proposal (NPP) costings and financial justifications.
- Coordinating Portfolio Budget Statements (PBS) and Portfolio Additional Estimates Statements (PAES).
- Supporting capital budgeting and the development of Capital Management Plans.
- Managing Actuals reporting and coordinating responses to Estimates Memoranda.
- Preparing financial advice, briefs, ministerial submissions and Senate Estimates documentation.
- Improving budgeting systems, policies and procedures, and delivering training to stakeholders.

About you

To be successful, you will bring:

- A degree in Accounting, Commerce,



Business or a related discipline.
- CA or CPA qualifications, completed or underway, or equivalent relevant finance experience.
- Demonstrated experience in external budgeting, financial planning or budget management.
- A strong understanding of the Australian Government financial framework and Commonwealth Budget processes.
- Experience with CBMS and advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Strong analytical, stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Experience preparing accurate financial reports, briefs and budget documentation.
- The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities within a collaborative team.
- $65.20 per hour + 12% superannuation.
- Assignment through to 31 August 2027, with potential extension subject to organisational requirements.
