About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Coordinator Development Assessment/Senior Town Planner to lead a local government planning team and oversee complex development applications.
This hands-on leadership role combines statutory planning expertise, team management and stakeholder engagement to support timely, compliant development outcomes. We are open to candidates across all of Australia and willing to relocate to regional QLD, and can start within 2 weeks' time.

Contract Details

- Rate: $65–$85 per hour + super
- Location: Yeppoon, Queensland
- Arrangement: 5 days onsite, 36.25 hours weekly
- Accommodation: Provided
- Duration: 3 months, potential extension
- Commencement: ASAP

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and mentor a development assessment team.
- Oversee complex development applications and planning approvals.
- Ensure compliance with Queensland planning legislation.
- Provide technical advice on statutory planning matters.
- Manage assessment deadlines, workloads and performance.
- Liaise with developers, consultants, councillors and stakeholders.
- Support planning enforcement, appeals and legal matters.




- Improve assessment processes, reporting and service delivery.
- Monitor operational budgets and team performance.

About You

- Qualifications in Urban or Regional Planning, or equivalent extensive experience.
- Robust Queensland statutory planning and development assessment experience.
- Proven leadership experience within local government or regulatory planning.
- Sound knowledge of the Planning Act 2016 (Qld) and associated regulations.
- Experience managing complex development applications and compliance matters.
- Strong communication, reporting and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in planning systems and Microsoft Office.
- Current C Class driver's licence.
- PIA membership or professional accreditation highly regarded.
- Valid Australian working rights required. No sponsorship available.
- Available to work onsite in Yeppoon for the full engagement.
